Family Fun Day & Hog Roast
On Sunday 17th June 2018 Dorset DCS held its eighth Family Fun Day and Hog Roast at the Orangery near Wimborne. 226 members travelled from all over Dorset to enjoy the day and this was the biggest attendance ever! We welcomed three new families and it was great to see all our regular families meeting up again.
We were again very lucky with the weather as although the sun was not shining it did not rain!

The Orangery in Wimborne is a great venue with games and activities such as Mini Golf, Badminton, Beach Volley Ball, Basketball, Petanque, Table Tennis, Giant Chess, Football Table, Climbing Net and a giant Connect Four. DDCS also organised the very popular inflatables which this year included the Minnions inflatable obstacle course, Giant Slide, Jungle Fun Run and of course Penalty Shoot Out! For the younger children there was an area of toys, play tunnels and ride-ons.
Jamie Jigsaw greeted everyone on stilts as they arrived and also during the day did circus trick workshops, balloon making and a show. We again had our brilliant face painters Joanna (Lilliana’s mum) and Carla.
The Hog Roast and BBQ was again provided by Roast around the Coast who worked hard to give a great service and the food was excellent. We tried a new system this year of families given a number on arrival and then certain number groups being called up for the food at a time. This worked and no one was stood in a long queue for the food this year. After the Hog Roast and BBQ the Ice Cream van arrived, the number system did not work as well for this queue!
Jodie Forbes, our Chairman’s daughter, brought along Hazel and Bramble her performing dogs again this year. This is very popular with the children and Hazel and Bramble showed everyone all the tricks they can do.
A brilliant family day with loads of fun!
