Welcome to the Dorset Deaf Children's Society website. We are a registered charity who organise events and activities to enable children and young people with a hearing loss, parents and families to meet each other and share their experiences and also have some fun!
We provide grants and equipment for children with a hearing loss and their families and also provide information to help families make informed choices for their children's education and welfare.
Membership is free for all families with a child or young person with a hearing loss living in Dorset or for supporters of children and young people with a hearing loss and their families living in Dorset.

If you become a member of National Deaf Children's Society that does not make you an automatic member of
Dorset Deaf Children's Society and vice versa.

In line with The National Deaf Children's Society guidelines the Dorset Deaf Children's Society have adopted their Safeguarding Policy. The policy is based on NDCS guidelines and can be accessed by clicking on the link to the right.

Christmas Party
On Saturday 2nd December we held our annual Christmas Party at The Blandford School, Blandford and what a wonderful time we had! Just under 50 families consisting of 189 members came along including some very excited children!
To start the party we had music and games with Jamie Jigsaw, craft tables, face painting, raffle and a photo both. Everyone had a great time dressing up in the props for their pictures! Then we had the finger buffet and liquid refreshments were also available. This year we had to organise the buffet at short notice as the school caterers were unable to help us. The Trustees pulled together and we were able to provide a delicious feast.
After the food it was time for Jamie Jigsaw's show with some brave children getting up on the stage! Everyone had a great time. This was followed by the raffle with some wonderful prizes. Debbie Ravensdale, NDCS Child and Family Support Officer, was also available for families to ask for any help or information.

It was then time for a visit from a very special visitor…… Father Christmas who brought presents for all the children.

We would like to thank The Blandford School for once again letting us have the venue free of charge and also thank the trustees and volunteers who helped before and on the day to make the party such a success!
