Family Fun Day & Hog Roast
This was Dorset DCS sixth Family Fun Day and this one was different than previous years as it was held on Sunday May 22nd and not at our usual time in August. The weather over the weekend had been atrocious with nonstop rain on Saturday but luckily on Sunday it kept mainly dry. So although there were some showers the day was able to go ahead. It was not quite the same as in previous years where families could sit on the grass and enjoy the weather but it was still a fun filled day for the 202 members who came along. Once again it was held at The Orangery in Wimborne - it would be hard to find such a great venue anywhere else for our Fun Day.

There was plenty for the children and adults to enjoy such as Badminton, Beach Volley Ball, Basketball, Mini Golf, Petanque, Table Tennis, Giant Chess, Football Table, Climbing Net and a giant Connect Four. There was live music from our Trustee Sarah Bolter playing the saxophone and Jamie Jambo came along and did circus skills and balloon art with the children and also put on a show after lunch. Very popular was the Minnions inflatable obstacle course, Dudley the Dinosaur and the Under the Sea giant slide. For the younger childrenDDCS also hired a selection of toys including soft play, rockers, play tunnels and many more. The children were also able to get their face painted.

This year Jodie Forbes, our Chairman’s daughter, brought along Hazel and Bramble her performing dogs. The children were able to interact with them and help with the tricks that Hazel and Bramble were performing.

The Hog Roast and BBQ was again provided by Roast around the Coast who worked hard to give a great service and the food was excellent. This was followed up with a visit from the Ice Cream van.
Although the weather could have been better everyone enjoyed themselves and had fun!
