Christmas Party

It’s party time again and time for our members to have some fun!  Dorset DCS held their annual Christmas party once again at The Blandford School who have again very kindly let us have the use of their hall, cafeteria and dining room free of charge. We would like to thank Liz Bishopp and the school for this wonderful gesture. Trustees spent a busy morning setting everything up to welcome our members and this year 166 members came along including 82 children and there was plenty of space for everyone for what was to be a fun filled afternoon.

After arriving families found a table to base themselves and were able enjoy Christmas music, Christmas crackers and nibbles. The children were able to have fun at the craft tables making Christmas Cards and there was also face painting of some great festive faces!  The Dorset DCS information table was available for families to help themselves to any support literature they might need and NDCS Christmas Cards were on sale raising money, not just for NDCS, but also for Dorset DCS.

Everyone was then able to enjoy a finger buffet with plenty of delicious food which was provided for our families by the school catering company, The Catering Academy. We would like to thank them for donating the food and Karen, Dawn, Hayley and Dan for giving their time to make the food for us.  Tea, coffee and squash for the children were provided by DDCS.

This year we had a visit from Andy the Magic Man to entertain the children and then it was time for a visit from a very special person…… Father Christmas who brought presents for all the children.

It was exciting this year as we had some international visitors all the way from Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA!  Pauline Heaney who’s 10 year old son Aiden has a hearing loss came along to the party with Aiden’s sister Victoria and friends Sarah, Nigel, Lewis and Joe Charles. They had a great time and Pauline was very impressed with our party as they do not have anything like this back at home, she said they have no support groups like DDCS to enable them to meet other children with hearing loss. Thank you Pauline for coming along to enjoy the day with us!

Everyone had a great time meeting up with friends and also making some new ones!
