LONGLEAT - JULY 2009

Our big summer family get together this year took us to Longleat in Wiltshire. We travelled in two Bluebird Coaches (at no cost to our members and their families) with six pick up points en route. Some families preferred to drive themselves and we set a meeting point up at the main ticket office for 10.30am.

98 people duly arrived, Dorset DCS paid for the deaf child and carer entry and all other family members benefitted from a greatly reduced group entry price so everyone had a good cheap day out and with so many families attending we gave everyone sticky badges so people could introduce themselves to other members and build friendships.

The weather forecast had been changing regularly over the last few days - everyone came prepared for whatever the great British summer had to offer us, with sunglasses, shorts, brolleys and macs all being worn! We were lucky though - we had a few short showers during the day when everyone was free to wander around the outside attractions like the maze, house, gardens, play area and boat trip. We then returned to the coaches at 3pm to do the tour of the safari park and within 20 minutes the heavens opened !!
